"""v156 -- The constructive route, to its exact verifiable endpoint: the
seam-Calderon net is CONSTRUCTED explicitly and identified with (E_8)_1
by the modular character identity, given the one free-bulk premise.
[I] exact (harmonic-extension DtN + q-series character identity); the
operator-algebraic existence of the net from the seam kernel, and the
free-bulk premise (v155), remain [P]/[A]. This turns "B = (E_8)_1"
from an assertion (v154) into a checked computation, and locates the
single analytic step precisely. (External-review Route 3, 2026-06-13.)
The Simple-Current Extension Theorem (v154) asserts B = (E_8)_1; the
seam-side premise (v155) is "the seam bulk is a free RP field". This
module exhibits the explicit chiral-net construction and verifies the
(E_8)_1 identification, so only the genuinely operator-algebraic step
is left:
[I] 1. THE DtN OPERATOR IS THE FREE CHIRAL DISPERSION. The
Dirichlet-to-Neumann (Calderon) operator of the 2d Laplacian
on the half-space acts on a boundary mode e^{ikx} by the
harmonic extension e^{ikx-|k|y}: -d_n u|_{boundary} = |k| u.
So the seam-Calderon operator, for a free bulk, is
omega_k = |k| -- exactly the massless chiral free-field
dispersion that defines the free-fermion net on the circle.
[I] 2. SIXTEEN FREE MAJORANAS, c = 8. A free Majorana on S^1 with
omega_k = |k| has c = 1/2; the carrier grading
SO(10) x SO(6) = SO(16) splits 16 of them as 10 + 6, with
c = 16/2 = 8 = c(D_5)_1 + c(A_3)_1 = 5 + 3 (conformal
embedding, coset c = 0).
[I] 3. THE E_8 CURRENTS FROM THE FERMIONS: 248 = 120 + 128. The
weight-1 currents of the GSO/glue-projected 16-fermion net
are the NS bilinears psi_i psi_j (dim SO(16) = 120) plus the
Ramond spinor ground states (one chirality, 2^7 = 128):
120 + 128 = 248 = dim E_8. This is the Frenkel-Kac / fermionic
construction of the E_8 current algebra (the v148 NS/R split,
read as the level-1 current count).
[I] 4. THE (E_8)_1 CHARACTER IDENTITY (the explicit B = (E_8)_1).
The holomorphic c=8 character is
chi(tau) = E_4/eta^8
= q^{-1/3}(1 + 248 q + 4124 q^2 + 34752 q^3
+ 213126 q^4 + ...) = j^{1/3},
verified by q-series to order 4 -- the 248 at level 1 is
dim E_8, so the net IS (E_8)_1. The spin-structure (GSO) sum
E_4 = (theta_3^8 + theta_4^8)/2 [NS] + theta_2^8/2 [R] has
level-1 coefficient 240 = 112 (NS) + 128 (R) -- the 240 E_8
roots; 248 = 240 + 8 (Cartan).
[P] 5. WHAT REMAINS (recorded, the genuine analytic step): the
construction above is exact GIVEN (i) the free-bulk premise
(DtN = |k|, v155) and (ii) the operator-algebraic existence /
uniqueness of the chiral net generated by the seam Calderon
kernel (a Kawahigashi-Longo-type net-construction theorem --
not a finite computation). Route 3 thus EXHIBITS and VERIFIES
the target net (the character identity is the explicit
B = (E_8)_1); the irreducible residual is the same single
premise plus the standard net-existence step. This is where
TFPT meets constructive QFT, now sharply located.
