"""v157 -- Freeness is not a postulate but the RIGID boundary fixed
point: the seam is free because (i) the Dirichlet-to-Neumann symbol is
universally |k| (bulk-detail-independent, Lee-Uhlmann), (ii) a
holomorphic c=8 theory is RIGID -- it has no marginal (1,1) operator,
so an interaction has no room to turn on -- and (iii) the same |Z2|
that halves 8pi in c_3 = 1/(2*4pi) IS the Ramond/GSO projection giving
mu=1 = holomorphic. This reframes premise (A) 'the seam bulk is free'
into the much milder 'the gapped boundary flow reaches the holomorphic
fixed point': freeness then follows by rigidity, no fine-tuning.
[I]/[L] the symbol, the rigidity count and the |Z2| triple role; [P]
the flow reaching the fixed point. (Simplicity-first attempt on (A),
external review 2026-06-13.)

The standing premise (v155/v156) was 'the seam bulk is a free
(Gaussian) RP field'. Instead of assuming Gaussianity, derive it as a
fixed-point property:

[I] 1. THE DtN SYMBOL IS UNIVERSALLY |k| (free dispersion is not a
premise). The Dirichlet-to-Neumann (Calderon) operator of ANY
second-order elliptic bulk is a pseudodifferential operator of
order 1 with principal symbol |xi|_g (Lee-Uhlmann); on the flat
boundary mode e^{ik theta} this is exactly |k|, homogeneous of
degree 1. Any bulk interaction shifts only the LOWER-order
(degree <= 0) symbol -- irrelevant in the UV/scaling limit. So
         the free chiral dispersion omega_k = |k| is bulk-detail
         independent, not a fine-tuned input (v156's DtN = |k|, now read
         as universal).
[I] 2. HOLOMORPHIC c=8 IS RIGID (no room for interaction). In a
chiral / holomorphic theory every field has weight (h, hbar=0).
         An exactly-marginal deformation needs a weight-(1,1) field;
with hbar=0 always, NO (1,1) field exists -- the space of
         marginal deformations is 0-dimensional. A holomorphic c=8
fixed point is therefore ISOLATED: there is no continuous knob
along which a non-Gaussian interaction could be turned on.
[I]/[L] 3. AND IT IS UNIQUE = (E_8)_1 -> FREE. The only holomorphic
c=8 chiral theory is the E_8 lattice net (unique even
         unimodular rank-8 lattice, v83), which is a free-fermion /
lattice theory. So the rigid isolated fixed point IS (E_8)_1,
         free.
[I] 4. THE |Z2| TRIPLE ROLE (everything clicks). The SAME |Z2|
does three jobs at once: it halves the one-sided S^2
         Gauss-Bonnet, c_3 = 1/(|Z2| * 2pi * chi(S^2)) = 1/(2*4pi) =
1/(8pi); it labels the sheet; and it is the GSO/Ramond
         projection that produces mu = 1 (holomorphic), 248 = 120_NS +
128_R (v148). One object, three roles -- the geometry that
fixes c_3 is the projection that makes the net holomorphic.
[P] 5. WHAT THIS BUYS, HONESTLY (recorded): premise (A) is reframed
from 'the seam is free' (a fine-tuned postulate) to 'the gapped
         (Delta = 6 log(3/2) > 0) boundary flow reaches the holomorphic
fixed point'. Given that, freeness is FORCED by rigidity (2.)
+ uniqueness (3.), with the universal symbol (1.) supplying the
free UV dispersion and the |Z2| (4.) supplying holomorphy. The
residual is no longer 'prove Gaussianity' but 'the boundary RG
flow reaches the c=8 holomorphic fixed point' -- a milder,
structural statement the gap supports. Not a finite proof, but
a strictly smaller and simpler residual.
