"""v260 -- ARCH.K3.01: one Kummer/K3 surface carries the SEAM, the CARRIER-16 and
the E8 lattice as facets of a single smooth object -- the geometric unification of
the v1 "glue D5(+)A3 by mu_4" step.  An exact-lattice [E] core + a [C] physical
identification. (Develops the K3/Kummer proposal: replace the E8 patchwork by one
hardware chip.)

The seam is already the square torus T^2 at tau = i (j = 1728, v214) -- the modulus
forced by cross-ratio 2. The elliptic involution z -> -z of that torus is the
SAME order-2 map whose quotient is the pillowcase; squaring the construction to
complex dimension 2 gives the Kummer K3, and its three facets reproduce three TFPT
objects at once:

  (a) SEAM = the 1-dim quotient.  T^2_{tau=i} / (z -> -z) has exactly 4 fixed points
      (the 2-torsion (Z/2)^2), giving the pillowcase orbifold S^2(2,2,2,2) -- the
      v214/v216 seam with its FOUR marks.
  (b) CARRIER-16 = the 2-dim quotient.  the abelian surface A = T^2 x T^2 has
      2-torsion A[2] = (Z/2)^4 of order 16; the Kummer surface Km(A) = A/(z -> -z)
      has exactly 16 nodes, resolved by 16 disjoint (-2)-curves (rational P^1's) =
      dim S+ = Lambda^even(C^5) = 16 (v197).  The carrier-16 is the SQUARE of the
      seam-4 (16 = 4 x 4).
  (c) E8 = the intersection form. H^2(K3, Z) with the cup product is the even
      unimodular lattice of signature (3,19): the K3 lattice U^3 (+) E8(-1)^2, so
      the SAME E8 the carrier glues to (v1) is the intersection form of the surface
      that carries the seam and the 16 nodes.

  [E] 1. E8 CARTAN.  the E8 Cartan matrix is even (diagonal 2), positive-definite,
        det = 1 -- the unique even unimodular positive-definite rank-8 lattice (E8).
  [E] 2. K3 LATTICE.  L_K3 = U^3 (+) E8(-1)^2 has rank 22 = b_2(K3), det = -1
        (unimodular), is even, and has signature (3,19) -- the second cohomology of
        every K3, carrying E8(-1) (+) E8(-1) as an orthogonal summand.
  [E] 3. SEAM = ELLIPTIC-INVOLUTION QUOTIENT.  T^2/(z->-z) has 4 = |(Z/2)^2| fixed
        points; the orbifold S^2(2,2,2,2) has orbifold Euler characteristic
        2 - 4(1 - 1/2) = 0 (Euclidean), the v214 flat pillowcase with 4 marks.
  [E] 4. CARRIER-16 = KUMMER NODES.  |A[2]| = 2^4 = 16 nodes on Km(T^2 x T^2) ->
        16 exceptional P^1 curves = dim S+ = Lambda^even(C^5) = 16 (v197), and
        16 = 4 x 4 = (seam marks)^2.
  [E] 5. HONESTY (no conflation). the 16 node classes generate the rank-16 Kummer
        lattice (an even sublattice of L_K3), which is NOT literally E8(-1)^2; the
        E8(-1)^2 is the ambient H^2 summand.  Both are exact facts about H^2(K3);
        they are DISTINCT sublattices. (Stated to avoid overclaiming "16 nodes =
        E8 (+) E8".)
  [C] 6. TWO FACES OF E8 IN K3.  E8 appears in K3 geometry both LOCALLY -- as a du
        Val singularity C^2/2I whose link is the Poincare sphere and whose minimal
        resolution has the E8 dual graph (v232/v236, the (2,3,5) capstone) -- and
        GLOBALLY, as the H^2 summand (item 2); the carrier glue (v1) is the same
        lattice seen as a simple-current extension.
  [C] 7. UNIFICATION. one smooth Kummer/K3 surface carries the seam (pillowcase =
        elliptic-involution quotient), the carrier-16 (the 16 nodes) and the E8
        intersection form -- so v1's "glue D5(+)A3 + mu_4 => E8" is the lattice
        shadow of a single geometric object, not three patched constructs. A
        unification, NOT a closure: the physical carrier<->node identification is
        [C], the lattice arithmetic is [E].

Status: [E] for the lattice arithmetic (E8 Cartan, the K3 lattice U^3(+)E8(-1)^2,
the seam fixed-point/orbifold count, the 16 Kummer nodes) and the no-conflation
honesty note (items 1-5); [C] for the two-faces and the geometric unification
(items 6-7). sympy (exact lattice) + numpy (signature).
