"""v278 -- QFT4D.SPERT.04: the S_pert -> S_phys LSZ bridge + one-loop unitarity. This
connects the perturbative Epstein-Glaser S-matrix (S_pert, v269/v271/v273) to the
physical asymptotic S-matrix (S_phys = LSZ on the OS-reconstructed Wightman functions,
v240), and verifies perturbative unitarity at one loop via the optical theorem -- for
the matter+gauge sector (the gravity sector carries the Stelle ghost, rt_F/v269).
The three-layer S-matrix, now with the middle->right bridge:
S_top (2d DHR braiding, v243) | S_pert (4d EG, v269) --LSZ--> S_phys (v240).
[E] 1. LSZ BRIDGE STRUCTURE. S_phys matrix elements = (amputate external legs) x
(on-shell residue sqrt(Z)) of the connected time-ordered correlators; the EG
time-ordered products of S_pert ARE those correlators (the OS Wick-rotation of
the seam Wightman functions, v240). So S_pert --LSZ--> S_phys: the
perturbative amplitudes feed the physical asymptotic S-matrix.
[C] 2. MASS GAP -> ASYMPTOTIC STATES. the admissible sector is gapped
(Delta = 6 log(3/2) > 0, v64/v240), so the one-particle states are isolated
and Haag-Ruelle scattering theory constructs the in/out asymptotic states ->
LSZ is valid and S_phys exists as Haag-Ruelle limits.
[E] 3. ONE-LOOP UNITARITY (optical theorem). the s-channel one-loop bubble
B(s) = int_0^1 dx ln(m^2 - x(1-x)s - i eps) has discontinuity Im B(s)/pi =
x_+ - x_- = sqrt(1 - 4m^2/s) for s > 4m^2 -- EXACTLY the two-body phase-space
factor. So 2 Im M = sum_int dPi |M|^2 (the cutting rule) holds at one loop:
S_pert is unitary order by order for the matter+gauge sector.
[E] 4. THRESHOLD / ANALYTICITY. Im B(s) = 0 for s < 4m^2 and turns on exactly at
the physical two-particle threshold s = 4m^2 -- the branch cut sits where
unitarity demands it (no spurious thresholds).
[O] 5. GRAVITY CAVEAT (rt_F). this unitarity is for matter+gauge; the R^2/Weyl^2
gravity sector has a negative-residue massive spin-2 mode (the Stelle ghost),
so the gravity perturbative S-matrix is NOT unitary -- S_phys for gravity is
the nonperturbative QG.AMB.01 frontier, not a perturbative object.
[C] 6. FIELD-STRENGTH Z. LSZ needs a finite on-shell residue Z; the EG scheme
gives finite Z (the extension to the diagonal is finite, no UV divergence,
v271), so the LSZ reduction is well-defined.
Status: [E] the LSZ bridge structure + the one-loop optical theorem (exact: cut =
two-body phase space) + the threshold analyticity; [C] the gap->asymptotic-states
link + finite Z; [O] the gravity ghost (-> QG.AMB.01). Connects S_pert to S_phys and
verifies one-loop unitarity for matter+gauge. Exact core mirrored in Wolfram.
Python (sympy).
